Mary Quant Exhibition

Eight intrepid members set off, four by train, which was really a bus (disappointment at track works), and four drove the 168km.

Meeting on the steps of the gallery, we set off into an amazing exhibition. Many actual dresses and outfits were there on mannequins, and giggles down memory lane were shared by the group. Do you remember the raincoat dress? Or the wet-look shiny rain coat, the drop wasted dresses and very, very short hemlines? There were videos of the work rooms, Mary, her husband and business partner working in London and around the world.

We were treated to sit in the sculpture gallery for our lunch, a lovely setting for a relax and chat, with an interesting and varied menu.

All agreed it was a good day, cool, but no wind, good friends, and fun tripping back to the 60s.
